Thacona punctifascia is een vlinder van de familie Scranciidae. De wetenschappelijke naam van deze soort is voor het eerst voorgesteld als Gargetta punctifascia door George Francis Hampson in een publicatie uit 1897.The moths of India. Supplementary paper to the volumes in "The fauna of British India." Part I - The journal of the Bombay Natural History Society. Vol. 11(2): 277-297, pag. 281. De spanwijdte van het mannetje bedraagt 52 millimeter.
De soort komt voor in India (Assam, Meghalaya), China, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, de Filipijnen, Maleisië en Indonesië (Borneo, Java, Sumatra).
