Steven Sacayaradjy (born 22 January 1997) is a Sri Lankan footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder or centre-back. Born in France, he plays for the Sri Lanka national football team.
Early life Sacayaradjy was born in Paris, France to an Indian father and a Sri Lankan mother.
Club career
Sacayaradjy developed his football career in France, playing in the French regional and lower-division system. In February 2024, The Morning reported that he was playing for FC Borgo B in France and described him as a defensive midfielder who could also play as a right midfielder or centre-back.
In August 2024, Sacayaradjy joined Onet-le-Château Football, a club competing in Championnat National 3. The move made him the club's first player to have represented a senior national team internationally.
His stay at Onet-le-Château was brief. In September 2024, Centre Presse Aveyron reported that Sacayaradjy had left the club after disagreements concerning his living arrangements. Sacayaradjy said that he had been accommodated in a workers' residence without a kitchen and that he considered the conditions unsuitable. The club's president gave a different account of the circumstances surrounding his departure.
Following his departure from Onet-le-Château, Sacayaradjy joined Sud FC in Corsica.
International career
Sacayaradjy was eligible to represent Sri Lanka and was invited into the national-team setup in 2024. The Morning described him as a 27-year-old France-based defensive midfielder who could also operate at right midfield and centre-back.
He made his international debut for Sri Lanka on 22 March 2024 in a 2024 FIFA Series match against Papua New Guinea, which ended in a 0–0 draw.
He subsequently became part of Sri Lanka's squad for international matches in 2024 and 2025. Daily Mirror included Sacayaradjy in Sri Lanka's squad for its international fixtures in 2025.
