The 71st Valladolid International Film Festival (Seminci) will take place from 23 to 31 October 2026 in Valladolid, Castile and León, Spain.
Background In January 2026, in the wake of the death of Seminci director José Luis Cienfuegos in December 2025, Javier H. Estrada (programming chief) and Mariona Viader (coordinator general) were designated as co-directors of the 71st edition. On 28 July 2026, the co-directors presented a photograph by Apichatpong Weerasethakul displaying the Mekong River as the official poster. An early tranche of 15 official selection and titles was announced in August 2026. In September 2026, Valeria Sarmiento was announced as the recipient of a Honorary Spike together with the addition of Sarmiento's swan song in an out-of-competition official section slot.
