Changes 2022–2026
Sue Beeston, elected as a Labour councillor, left the party in November 2023 to sit as an independent. She subsequently joined the Conservative Group. In late March 2026, Reform UK councillor Lynn Dean had the whip suspended after the anti-racism campaign group Hope Not Hate uncovered posts on an undisclosed social media account containing racist comments about Black people and Muslims; Dean said she had already decided to leave the party. She resigned as councillor for Knutton on 1 April 2026, weeks before she would have faced re-election, remaining a Staffordshire county councillor for May Bank and Wolstanton. The Knutton seat was left vacant until the 2026 borough election.
