Yirrkala maculata is an eel in the family Ophichthidae (worm/snake eels).Yirrkala maculata at www.fishbase.org. It was described by Wolfgang Klausewitz in 1964, originally under the genus Caecula.Klausewitz, W., 1964 (21 Dec.) [ref. 2347] Zwei neue Arten von aalartigen Fischen aus dem Indischen Ozean (Pisces, Apodes, Muraenidae, Ophichthidae). Senckenbergiana Biologica v. 45 (no. 6): 665-669. It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from the western central Pacific Ocean.
