El barchante Neguib is a 1946 Mexican comedy-drama film directed by Joaquín Pardavé and produced by Gregorio Walerstein. It stars Pardavé alongside Sara García and Jorge Ancira. The film serves as a thematic spiritual follow-up, though not a direct narrative sequel, to Pardavé's highly successful 1942 immigration comedy El baisano Jalil.

Plot Neguib (Joaquín Pardavé), a hard-working Lebanese immigrant merchant, travels from a small provincial town to Mexico City alongside his family to visit his oldest son, Alfredo (Jorge Ancira), who has built a professional career in the capital. To their immense surprise and heartbreak, Alfredo has become deeply ashamed of his family's Arab origins. Influenced by a malicious, unscrupulous associate, Alfredo flatly refuses to welcome his family or grant them accommodation in the upscale apartment he shares with his Cuban roommate, Alejandro (Ramiro Gómez Kemp).

Deeply insulted by his son's rejection, Neguib cuts ties with Alfredo and moves his wife, Sara (Sara García), their daughters Natalia (Olga Jiménez) and Rebeca (Marina Herrera "Marilú"), and their loyal rural manservant Piloncillo (Fernando Soto) into a modest tenement apartment in a local slum. To support his household, Neguib returns to his roots as a traveling salesman and sets up a retail clothing stall in a bustling public market. This business brings him into fierce comedic competition with his direct neighbor Regina (Dolores Camarillo), an eccentric vendor whom Neguib repeatedly and mockingly nicknames "Rajona."

While Neguib remains stubbornly determined to succeed independently in the market, a devastated Sara covertly searches for Alfredo, only to be met with further coldness and social rejection. Through a series of neighborhood misunderstandings, tenement entanglements, and romantic matches involving the daughters, the family works to preserve their dignity. Ultimately, Alfredo's deceptive social world collapses, forcing him to confront his biases, recognize the unconditional love and honesty of his immigrant parents, and return to his family to seek redemption.
