Roger T. Pipe (born October 17, 1967) is an American pornographic film critic and the founder of RogReviews, an adult-entertainment review website that he established in 1996. The site publishes reviews of the adult films, websites and sex toys, as well as interviews with performers and other people in the adult entertainment industry. Pipe is a member of the X-Rated Critics Organization and was inducted into the XRCO Hall of Fame in 2009."Current XRCO Members" , XRCO official site. Retrieved January 4, 2008
Personal life Pipe was born in October 1967 and grew up in San Marcos, California. He attended California State University, Fullerton, where he earned a degree in communications.
Career Pipe has said that he began regularly watching pornography in 1985 and started writing reviews in 1995 after discovering an online discussion of pornographic films while searching for a rare title. He initially reviewed films from his own collection, and his reviews were later republished on adult-film distributor websites.
Pipe launched RogReviews in 1996 as a website for his adult-film reviews. In interviews, he has described the site's development as partly influenced by an earlier dispute with Adult Video News. During the early years of RogReviews, Pipe also worked as a warehouse and office manager for a local software company. He has stated that he contributed to the script for Guilty Pleasures, although he did not receive official credit in the released film. RogReviews later expanded beyond film reviews to include reviews of sex toys and websites, as well as contributions from other reviewers. RogReviews also featured audio and text interviews with people in the adult entertainment industry, including performers such as Aurora Snow and Shay Jordan.
In 2005, Pipe joined The Daily Noise, a Las Vegas-based entertainment radio talk show hosted by Kaan Soler and Jimmy Diggs, as a weekly guest commentator. The program ended in August 2007. Before joining The Daily Noise, Pipe had also appeared on Lovebytes, hosted by Bob Berkowitz on Eyada.com, and had discussed developing his own news program before Eyada ceased operations in 2001.
In 2010, Pipe contributed the chapter “Something for Everyone: Busty Latin Anal Nurses in Leather and Glasses” to the anthology Porn – Philosophy for Everyone: How to Think with Kink. He has also appeared on radio programs including KSEX Radio and Playboy Radio and hosted programs on Radio Dentata. Pipe has additionally produced an annual podcast series discussing nominees and winners of the AVN Awards.
By 2025, RogReviews had published more than 9,000 reviews and hundreds of interviews with adult-film performers. Pipe also remained active with the X-Rated Critics Organization, including involvement in its day-to-day operations and voting for the annual XRCO and AVN Awards. As of 2026, he continued to publish industry news and commentary for RogReviews.
Views on the industry Pipe has expressed concern about the long-term effects that participation in adult entertainment can have on performers and has advised prospective performers to consider carefully whether they want to enter the industry. Pipe has criticized what he described as the "Jackassization" of adult films, arguing that increasingly extreme and degrading content could negatively affect performers, particularly women.
Following the 2004 HIV outbreak in the adult film industry, Pipe criticized what he viewed as unsafe production practices and expressed concern that the growth of independent internet-based production could leave performers outside established safety procedures. He also praised efforts by some companies to cover the cost of regular HIV testing for performers.
