Iota Piscium, also named Puwuh Atarung, is a star located in the constellation Pisces. With an apparent magnitude of +4.13, it is visible to the naked eye. Parallax measurements give a distance of 44.73 light-years.
Naming Iota Piscium (Latinized from ι Piscium, abbreviated Iota Psc, ι Psc) is the star's Bayer designation. In Chinese astronomy, (), meaning Thunderbolt, refers to an asterism consisting of ι Piscium, β Piscium, γ Piscium, θ Piscium, and ω Piscium. Puwuh Atarung (), meaning "battling quails", is a Balinese constellation visualized in Pisces. The IAU Working Group on Star Names adopted the name Puwuh Atarung for this star on 17 September 2026.
Properties Its spectral type is F7V, with the luminosity class V suggesting it is in the main sequence, fusing atoms of hydrogen into helium. The star is 3.7 billion yeas old, has 1.21 times the Sun's mass and 1.59 times the Sun's radius. It is radiating 3.55 times the Sun's luminosity at an effective temperature of . It is a suspected variable star.
The star was once thought to have one or two stellar companions, but both are line-of-sight coincidences. However, it has a candidate proper motion companion with a separation of 8.48". It displays a far-infrared excess at a wavelength of 70μm, suggesting it is being orbited by a cold debris disk.
